As part of the guest city agreement, the city of Copenhagen has been invited to be part of an urban renewal project in the Qinglong Hutong in Beijing. The Danish consultancy firm Archiland has been chosen by Dongcheng District and Gehua to be part of the project. Qinglong Hutong will serve as a Danish showcase for Danish sustainable urban renewal and development solutions during Beijing Design Week 2018. Everyone is invited to visit the renovation project at Qinglong Hutong and experience how a Chinese and Danish partnership is changing Beijing into a more liveable and sustainable city.
Furthermore, the urban renewal project in Qinglong Hutong serves as a platform for future cooperation between Copenhagen and Beijing. The Strategic Sector Cooperation programme regarding sustainable urban renewal will for instance use the urban renewal project in Qinglong as a future platform to involve Danish companies in similar projects in Beijing and China.
During Beijing Design Week, City of Copenhagen and City of Beijing will co-host the opening ceremony for the urban renewal project in Qinglong Hutong and the ground-breaking ceremony for a new Sino-Danish Innovation Centre in Qinglong Hutong. The Sino-Danish Innovation Centre will be tasked with facilitating future cooperation on cultural and creative industries between Copenhagen and Beijing.
